Elisabeth & Seth | Engaged | Asheville Engagement Photographer

This post is dear to my heart because my oldest niece got engaged just a few short weeks ago.  Meet Elisabeth, who lives in Maine and Seth, who lives in Pisgah Forest, NC.  I asked Elisabeth to tell me how they met and I'll share it in her words....

"We "met" in February of 2015 after Seth sent me a friend request on Facebook.  The only friend request that would change my life.:)  In August we starting talking, calling, Face-Timing and planned to meet in November.  By October, I had fallen head over heels in love and knew he was the one God had made to be my other half.  When we met in November, our souls clicked.  (There's no non-cheesy way to say that part).  We know we were made for each other and cannot wait to be married and never have to be separated by 750 miles again.  Before we started talking, the Lord gave me a song that I wrote just for Seth...though I didn't know it was for him at the tie.  "You're the one God made for me, and for you I have prayed.  Before we walked the earth He knew, together, we'd come to this day.  His grace is overwhelming me in this gift of love that's true...And I'll thank Him every day I live for bringing me to you."  We are the product of thousands of prayers - God's best is always worth the wait!!

I'm so excited to share that I will be shooting my first wedding in Maine this April!!  I m so happy that God led you two to each other!!

Kerri & Alec say "I do" | The Fields of Blackberry Cove | Weaverville Wedding Photographer

I'm so excited to finally be able to share Kerri & Alec's wedding.  They were married at The Fields of Blackberry Cove on September 19th under the big oak tree surrounded by family and friends.  Kerri looking stunning in her dress!!  The two chose to do the "first look" where they both saw each other for the first time right before the ceremony, which I highly suggest.  There were so many wonderful details to capture from the flowers to the cake and all the yummy deserts on the desert table.  Thank you both for letting us be a part of your special day, a day we will always remember as fun and super relaxed!!  A huge thank you to the following who helped to make their day a dream come true!!

Gregory & Nathalie got in touch with me through the internet.  They were looking for someone to document their celebration of 16 years of marriage.  They are both very active with their three boys, love to stay in shape and love to hike.  We first met at the Crest Center & Pavilion for some shots and then headed to the Botanical Gardens to finish up.  Thank you for choosing me to share in the milestone of 16 years!!  Happy Anniversary and here's to many more!!

Zirconia Wedding Photographer | Lauren & Jalen | Married

I met Lauren and her mother, Kim, at the Wedding Festivals in Asheville. We hit it off right away and they booked me the same day for Lauren's wedding. It was my first time shooting in Zirconia, a little town located right past Hendersonville with lots of mountains and land.  This was a gorgeous wedding with super sweet people.  The food at the reception was absolutely the best!!  The DJ was hilarious.  Despite getting a little wet at the reception, it was a great day!!

How they met (In Lauren's words)....Jalen and I met in high school. We had a few classes together throughout the year and we had some mutual friends. We did not start dating until the summer after our freshman year of college (May 2012). We were at the same baseball game one day and my mom told me that either I could go up and talk to him or she would. So, after a little debating, I finally ended up going up to him and we've been together ever since.

Lauren & Jalen (Blake) were married on her parent's home land just right down the hill from where she grew up. I checked the weather forecast and it didn't look promising, lots of rain headed our way. We started the day with getting ready shots at two different locations. We had just finished photographing the bridesmaids when the rain moved in and poured. It rained about 15 minutes then the blue sky opened up. The groomsmen quickly went down to the ceremony site to wipe off all the seats before the guests arrived. There were so many details surrounding this wedding. Here are the many touches and hands that went into Lauren & Jalen's special day.

-The handkerchief wrapped around her bouquet belonged to her great-great grandmother (her dad's maternal great grandmother). -The pitcher and basin used during the foot washing is her great grandmothers (her moms maternal grandmother). -the chair they sat in during the foot washing belonged to her great grandparents (her dad's maternal grandparents). -My favorite detail-the officiant is the trainer and sports medicine instructor at the high school Lauren and Jalen attended. Since the bride and groom were both athletes, Doc Durham played a very important role in their high school careers. Theirs is the first, but I'm sure it won't be the last, wedding he officiated for students/athletes to come through his program.
- Lauren's dad made the cross and the backdrop behind it with wood given to us by some precious church members.
- The cupcake display belongs to Hey Hey Cupcake, who made the cake and cupcakes.
- Lauren's grandmother made Lauren's veil.
- (Lauren's other grandmother) altered Lauren's gown. So many precious hands contributed to Jalen's and Lauren's day

Many thanks to the wonderful people who made their day so special:
Cake & Cupcakes - Hey Hey Cupcakes!
DJ - Tim Griffin (Eye of the Tiger)
Catering - Terry's Catering (Terry Mayban)
Assistant Photographer - Kathy Beaver

Homewood Wedding Photographer - Samantha & Gregory say "I DO"

Samantha and Gregory were married at Homewood on October 19th in a ceremony surrounded by family and close friends.  I had the privilege of meeting the couple a year ago when I met them for their engagement session. I noticed right off how "in love" they were and the mutual respect they had for each other.  Samantha wanted a wedding in the fall and she carefully planned out all of the details for their wedding from the flowers to the fall decorations and even the wedding cake and groom's cake which was a work of art.  Thank you for letting us share in your special day.  We wish you much happiness and a love that is everlasting.  Here is a short paragraph in Samantha's words on how they met and how Gregory proposed....

We met when I was 14 and he was 16 at a little corner sandwich shop in Canton after school. I remember being so nervous and barely talking. I still remember what he wore, a bright orange Carhartt t-shirt. He was so dreamy. He definitely gave my heart butterflies and still does. Well you know what happened next, we fell in love, that head over heels kind of love...and then four years later, still madly in love, he asked my grandparents and my mom for their blessing and proposed. He proposed on my grandparent’s anniversary, February 19, 2012. He got down on one knee at a little bed and breakfast in Waynesville in front of both of our families. I was so surprised, I had no clue. I thought that was the happiest day of my life, but I found out it was only one of the happiest days of my life because on October 19, 2014, I married my best friend, the love of my life, that man that I met at the little corner sandwich shop! My knight in camo armor This was the happiest day of my life, marrying the man of my dreams. I thank God for putting this amazing man in my life! I am so blessed to call him my HUSBAND!!
