Good News Baptist Church | Kendall + Nick | Asheville Wedding Photographer

Who doesn't love a good LOVE story?  I DO!!!  These two are the kindest people you will ever meet, seriously and genuinely in love with God and each other.  The day started off with the bridal party getting ready at the Buffalo Creek Vacation Cabins in Clyde and then we all headed to the church for some photographs of the bridal party and detail shots before the wedding began.  Here is how they met in Kendall's words....

"I began writing prayers and letters to my future husband when I was 18 years old. After a while of writing them, God placed it on my heart to give these letters to my husband on our wedding day. Not knowing my husbands name, I addressed them to "My tough and tender warrior", because I felt God telling me that's the kind of man I would marry. A couple years went by, and our wedding day was quickly approaching, so Nick's dad restored a wooden box that has been passed down from generations past in his family for me to put the letters, as well as my purity/promise ring in it to give Nick on our wedding day.  His dad, his best man, presented it to him the night before our wedding.

We met at Biltmore Church through college group and school bible studies, but really connected on a missions trip to Guatemala City and began dating shortly after.  I first began a deep friendship with him during the summer of 2015, and the week we connected in Guatemala I knew I wanted to marry him. The rest is history!"

These three will become a family next year when Savannah & Mike get married and I can't wait to be a part of their day!!  We met early on a Saturday morning, 7:30am, for photos in downtown Asheville right across from the courthouse.  The benefits of shooting this early is there was no one around but us.  We had the gorgeous space all to ourselves and the light was absolutely PERFECT.  I loved their choice of outfits.  Here are a few of my favorites from their downtown family session!!

Karlie | Bridals | NC Arboretum | Asheville Wedding Photographer

Madelynn + Josh | Jeter Mountain Farm | Hendersonville Wedding Photographer

Get ready for blog post OVERLOAD.  Seriously guys, when you've been asked by your photographer/friend Melissa McElrath to photograph her soon to be sister-n-laws wedding, you over shoot and boy am I glad we did.  What an honor to be asked by another photographer to photograph this special event. So get ready for the LARGEST blog post EVER.

Madelynn & Josh were married at Jeter Mountain Farm June 26, 2017, in an outdoor ceremony overlooking the mountains.  What a gorgeous venue.  This was my first time shooting at this lovely place.  The indoor and outdoor space was ta die for.  What Madelynn didn't know when I arrived was that Melissa had arranged for not only me to shoot, but Julia to shoot and do video of their wedding.  She surprised her with that as you'll see in the photos below.  I feel so honored that this couple entrusted me to capture their day along with Melissa and Julia.

When I first arrived at the farm, I first noticed the beautiful outdoor space and how large the inside of the reception site was and very open. The ladies had plenty of room to have hair and make-up done on the upper level.  As soon as we were done photographing the detail shots, we got ready for the first look between Josh & Madelynn.  As you can see in the photos, Josh was clearly happy to see his beautiful bride. The dress Madelyn picked out was absolutely GORGEOUS and fit perfectly.  What I loved about their wedding was that they decided to include their first communion together during their wedding.  Their vows were filled with words of commitment to each other and to their heavenly father who brought their lives together.  When the ceremony ended we did family shots and then walked down the mountain to this gorgeous tree farm area and where we did couple shots of Madelynn and Josh.  This was my FAVORITE spot.  Next up was the reception where this family knows how to throw a party complete with a live DJ, photo booth and lots of yummy food.  For a day, I felt like part of their family. Everyone was so gracious and so easy to work with and that I am grateful for.

Thank you Madelynn & Josh for choosing me to document your wedding day!!  May the Lord bless you and keep you close in your new life as husband and wife and may he grant you all of life's blessings and love's joys.  xoxo

Shelby + Josh | Broyhill Chapel | Mars Hill Wedding Photographer

Shelby & Josh were married in a beautiful ceremony at the Broyhill Chapel located in Mars Hill, NC, by Josh's grandfather.  The chapel was beautiful inside with gorgeous stained glass and lots of natural light.  I first met Shelby at a cute little home in Leicester where I photographed the details and where Josh & Shelby had their "first look".  I love intimate moments between a couple, just the two of them and of course (me) photographing the groom seeing his gorgeous bride for the first time.  Those are special moments!!  After the first look, I photographed the two of them and then we headed to the chapel for the bridal party shots and then the ceremony started.  The two of them took their first communion together which was so special and read their very own vows they had written to each other.  I absolutely LOVED all the details on their wedding day and the flowers were ummmm GORGEOUS...Such a relaxed atmosphere and laid back.

Thank you Shelby & Josh for choosing me to document your wedding day and thank you to the wonderful vendors who worked so hard to make memories for the couple

Whitney + James | Locust Grove Baptist Church | Weaverville Wedding Photographer

These two quiet souls were married in a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony at their home church, Locust Grove

Baptist Church in Weaverville July 29, 2017.  The love and support for these two was very evident by all the church family and friends who gathered for their special day.  I think the one thing that got me on their day was seeing Jame's face as his bride walked down the aisle.  I love it when a groom tears up during the ceremony.  Another cool thing was Whitney's parent's flower girl and ring bearer were there also (all grown up). I want to say thank you to Whitney and James for choosing me to document your wedding day.  May God bless your beautiful union!!

Biltmore Estate Sunflower Session | Asheville Portrait Photographer

When the flowers are blooming at the Biltmore Estate, it's any excuse for a photographer to grab someone and take their photos.  That's what I did with Trinity.  We met on a Tuesday afternoon and took some photos in the flower garden, the sunflower fields and ended up with some pretty sweet pics with her new cheerleading outfit.  She starts this year as a varsity for Pisgah High School (my old alma mater)  GO BEARS!!  Here are a few of my favorites from her session and of course, the sunflower shots are my FAV!!

Craggy Gardens Elopement | Lisa & Brad | Asheville Elopement Photographer

This was my first time hiking up to the top of the pinnacle at Craggy Gardens and my second elopement I've had the pleasure of photographing.  I first met Lisa & Brad at a private residence in East Asheville to photograph some detail/getting ready shots and then we all drove out to the picnic area at Craggy Gardens for the elopement.  We all hiked up the mountain to a small wooden gazebo with a gorgeous view of the mountains.  They had their ceremony there followed by a sweet prayer and a kiss.  We then walked down the trail and drove up the parking lot near the pinnacle.  Everyone changed their dress shoes to hiking boots and then we all made our way up to the top of the pinnacle stopping along the way to get some cool shots.  The views were gorgeous and breathtaking when we reached the top.  It was definitely worth the hike.

Fun facts about their day:

Lisa walked all the way up to the gazebo in her 4 inch heels (yes, I was amazed)

Lisa walked down from the gazebo in her son's socks in the mud (can I say super laid back bride)

The minister carried my camera gear for me up and down from the gazebo (super nice)

Brad swore it was just a "short walk" up to the gazebo (15 minutes later)...and I told him I should have charged him more (truth)

I couldn't have asked for a sweeter family to spend my Saturday with.  You guys were awesome to work with and I hope you enjoy your photos as much as I enjoyed meeting all of you!!  Many thanks to all of the vendors who made their day the best!!

Julie + David | Married | The Fields of Blackberry Cove | Weaverville Wedding Photographer

This was one of the hottest days of the summer and when we arrived at The Fields of Blackberry Cove, the power was out.  A line had been hit down the road and it knocked out power to the entire venue.  But this didn't stop everyone from having a great time.  We improvised.  We started with all the detail shots and there were a ton.  Did I mention I love shooting details!!  When the power came back on Sandi finished getting Julie's hair done and we were off to do group shots of the bridal party.  Julie looked stunning in her dress as she walked down the path to the open field toward the huge tree outside where the ceremony site was.  For a moment, David closed his eyes and then saw his bride for the first time.  I think we truly captured their love through photos.  Thank you to all the vendors who made their wedding day a success and to Julie & David, thank you for choosing me to document your special day!!  Here are a few of my favorites from their wedding day!!

Brooke + Michael Wedding | Macedonia Baptist Church | Asheville Wedding Photographer

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Proverbs 31: 10-12

I met Brooke and her mom a little over a year and a half ago when they first started wedding planning.  I noticed right away the quiet meek spirit Brooke had along with a genuine kindness. A few months later I met Michael and Brooke at Biltmore for their engagement session and couldn't help but see the strong love and compassion they had for each other.

I don't think I've ever photographed a wedding where the entire church was filled to capacity with friends and family with standing room only.  I grew up in a small country church and I know the close ties you have with your church family.  What was even more special was, Brooke's grandfather married Michael and Brooke.  What a special moment that will never be forgotten.  I must say I cry at almost every wedding I photograph, but especially at this one because the tears flowed down on Brooke & Michael's face as they saw each other for the first time.

Thank you both for choosing me to document your special day!  It was truly a pleasure serving you both.  I wish you joy, happiness and a love and closeness that only God can give you both.

Love & Prayers,  Tracy
